A dmsm file is a project file that tells the program what it should play or not play or do or not do with the original file. It is NOT a video file in itself. It has to be converted into one in order to play in another program or to burn it to a disc. The files types could be anything from WMP for streaming or sharing to mpg2 for burning to a DVD. Go to the V9 Tips and tricks forum and read "One way of doing it". It pretty much gives a step by step process. Also look at the applicable demo videos in that forum.

You might want to spend some time with the manual and with the Roxio overview videos.
