Emc 7.5 - Some Items Were Skipped During Installation?

michaeltee

Question

Hello,

I recently uninstalled EMC 7 (retail) and then performed a "custom" install of EMC 7.5 (retail). Although the new Sonic applications (such as Cineplayer, PC Backup and MyDVD) did not offer the option to "not" install, they were skipped over. I'm actually OK with this since all I really wanted was Creator Classic, Disc Copier and Label Creator but I'm curious as to why these seemingly "default" apps were not installed. If anyone could offer a possible explanation I'd appreciate it :-)

Thanks,

-Mike

I think they were kind of 'patched' into the program in 7.5 and either no one thought about the 'opt out' feature or they didn't want to offer that option.

I think you're correct, probably the latter. This is why I'm curious as to why the Sonic apps did not install. They are supposed to install by default yet they did not.

Do you currently have, or have you had in the past, any Sonic software installed? Ones like Mydvd or RecordNow.

If you have those, or had them (cuz remnants of them are likely to be left over in the registry even after uninstalling), that could explain it. If you have/had a version of Cineplayer installed, then 7.5 will 'see' that, and not install it again. Which also means the links in the 7.5 Home app and on the Start Menu won't be there or are grayed out.
