Lightscribe Label Burning

rwc

Question

I am trying to burn a lightscribe label on a tsscorp-CD/DVDW-SH-W162L-Firewire using Toast 8 Titanium v8.0.1. This procedure always results in a vague error message of "An internal error has occurred. Please restart the software application".

The drive firmware has been updated

The operating system is Mac OS X v 10.4.9 running on a Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 with 6.5 GB SDRAM.

The Roxio software version is 8.0.1.

The drive in question works normaly for all reading and burning operations other than label burning and passes the diagnostic test in the Toast 8 application.

Any suggestions?

Are you prompted with a crash report when this happens?

Are you prompted with a crash report when this happens?

The error message appears in a "Print Progress" dialog box as follows:

"Printing Alert

An internal error has occurred. Please restart the

software application."

This message is generated after the Toast application has called the Disc Cover application and I attempt to print a Lightscribe label. The Disc Cover application works without error with normal printing operations.

There is no prompt for a crash report and the console's system logs do not show an event.

Are you sure the drive is Mac-compatible for Lightscribe? You can burn data to just about anything right out of the box, but I don't think the lightscribe features are necessarily supported. (I'm having a similar problem with an external LG, burns data fine, but the DiscCover program simply quits when I try to burn a label.
