Unsuccessful Upgrade from Creator8XE to 9XE

I tried to upgrade from Creator 8.2 XE to 9 XE using the download. When it executes the install program it wants to uninstall 8.2 elements or it won't continue the install. So, I let it uninstall. When it is finished, it says the setup to 9 XE can't continue because there is no valid version of 8.2 XE to upgrade. Duh! I reinstalled 8.2 XE and am stuck.

I have no clue what 8.2 XE or 9 XE are, but there is no version of EMC 9 that will upgrade the EMC 8 that a person has on their computer, so I have no clue what the message you got, means.
