I have been trying to restore files from my back up set, it goes trough the motions, it reports no errors i find some of the folder with no documents in them, what am i doing wrong, using xp pr0

I have the impression you have made a copy of some files and are trying to read the copy?

How about some more detail -

which program within the suite did you use for backing up?

what did you make the backup to? R media or RW media?

What little info you've given leaves open all kinds of possibilities, such as

- you formatted the disc and the Packet-Writing has failed (this is a characteristic of ALL Packet-Writing programs for optical media, including but not limited to Drag2Disc, DirectCD, Nero's InCD, Sonic's DLA, etc)

- you used RW media, and it is blanking out (RW is a temporary media, altho useful for testing - it can be erased and reused)

- you used disc spanning and it isn't working

What can be done now depends on how it was made and what it was made to. I've seen posts by people who've made a layout for burning and then burned the layout instead of the files - keeping the shopping list rather than the groceries.

Thanks for getting back to me,

1) I used backup my PC Ver 6, back up to rw DVD, did a full back up

2) When using Restore Wizard, everything appears to work correctly, drives work fine, while watching the activity all the correct files are being transfered back to the computer, the final report shows no errors.

3) when I try to open Restored folders and sub-folders there is nothing in them, and some can not be open, they contain zero data.

I'm using windows xp pro (updated)

any assistance would be great!

Is this ALL folders, or only those beyond a certain level? I'm thinking Joliet limits may be kicking in if the latter.

No not all of them , I can open 4 or 5 and find no files in them then the last couple folders wont permit access nor can I delete them!
