kerfcutter
Actually, it sounds more like your virus program gave you a false read. If you had it on when you ran the fix before, then that could have been part of your problem. Finally got the program to load!! As was explained to me by Sonic the zip file has an .exe embedded in the file and appears as a virus. I had to take virus scanning off and download the program (made me nervous), but it worked. After a week of frustration the "fix" allowed me to enter my cd key code and load the program. Whew, what a lot of work to get it to load. Thanks to all.. If you are installing a program from a reputable company, why are you worried about a virus. This is part of the reason they state, "Stop or close all unnecessary programs/applications prior to installing our software." This INCLUDES your antivirus. I will even go so far as to say that many "Install" issues could be resolved if you follow instructions on shutting down unnecessary programs AND RESOURCES running in the background. I have run into a few installs of software were some of the resources XP loads up interfered with install. Shutting all the resources down EXCEPT explorer and systray (have to have those two at a bare minimum) solved the install problem. Not coming down on you, just info for those that are still having problems or might encounter install problems in the future.

Nope. It seems like the only answers we get are User Error. I have 4 days left on my 30 day refund. I have a question into tech support from 4 day ago, and no replyat all. What a bunch of crock. I decide to delete EMC 9 and did a clean reinstall of EMC 7, which works fine. Not sure what I really would have gained with EMC 9 anyway. I have about 4 day left of my 30 day refund. Is it worth taking the chance to reinstall EMC 9. What benefits would there be? All I do is basic video editing and adding music for home movies. Nothing spocial. gi7omy
emc 7 is incompatible with ie7. supposedly emc 9 addresses this. It does and it doesn't - some people are reporting problems in EMC9 which are cured by rolling back to IE6. However, I don't use IE and won't let it near my machine - I find Firefox is a far better browser without all the problems that IE7 causes (not the least of which being that it is non-W3C compliant)
Grammy
I couldn't download it with explorer as someone else stated. I downloaded firefox as suggested and was able to download it. Now I get the same problem of an error in trying to run it. So we have a program that won't load? I have never had this much trouble. I had downloaded the program and ran into this problem, so I returned it for a refund. I then went out an bought the disks to load thinking maybe it would work better with the disks but it didn't. Same problem. I would be open to any suggestions as would others. I'm having same problem, only I bought the disks first then tried the download. I called support today and they sent me yet one more patch. Will try it this evening. If it don't work this time, I'm taking the disk back to the store and I'll just wait until Roxio can find a way to fix this problem once and for all. I've been trying to load this software for a week!

I've been trying to load this software for a week! Got with support today via chat and was told the link with the fix would now work. I downloaded it with them online and tried to run it and again it gave me an error in trying to run it. I told this to the support person (Chris) so he said he would send it to me via email. I received the email and we said our goodbye's. I tried to download it to run it and my virus program blocked it saying there was a virus in the downloadable file and that it couldn't be cleaned. I tried to get back online with the chat and have been unable to get with them for the past 5 hours for some reason. So we are still without the program. Fortunately I have a virus scanning program. Anyone not running one would be in trouble it sounds like...
