Hi All

Anybody had any luck getting it working. I've tried all the settings i can think of for my router and firewall and all i get is the connection has timed out the server at [ip address removed] is taking to long to respond. Any Ideas would be welcome it's the only part of the suite i can't get working.

Is UPNP enabled on your router, and which make/model of router do you have?

Yes UPuP Is enabled. The router is a Belkin 4 port cable/dsl gateway router model num F5D5231au4. Also i'm using Pc-cillin 2005 as my firewall and the windows firewall turned off.

1) Does it work if you disable PC-cillin?

2) If UPNP isn't forwarding the port, can you try forwarding ports 10075 - 10085 to your local machine on the router?

No it does'nt work with Pc-cillin disabled or with those ports forwarded. It's trying to go to the Wan IP when i select preveiw. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you i had to go into town. Just a thought I'm on Telstra cable which uses a heartbeat signal don't know if that would have any effect.

Just an update I've traced the problem to why it won't connect to my router. If i connect my modem straight to the network card LiveShare connects to the server no problem with IE or Firefox thats also with no changes to my anti-virus/firewall program. So it's my hardware problem not an EMC 8 software problem. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Patrick for all those hours trying to solve the problem for me.

Were is liveshare? I don't seem to have that option under organize?

Open media manager go to tools and select manage my Liveshares.

I've read through these postings and confirmed that XP and my router both have UPnP enabled, but I still can't get LiveShare working. I get a "Page cannot be displayed" error when I click the "Preview" button. I get the same results when I send out an invite. Any thoughts? I'm really eager to use this functionality. Thanks.

Hi

You might need to set up static IP addresses for your lan so that the port forwarding works. As above it works for me if i connect the modem without going thru the router. I found a good sight Here on how to do that. Hope it helps.

You got it. When I connect my modem directly to my computer, LiveShare works. When I get my internet connection from my router, it doesn't work. I spent the better part of 2 hours on the phone with 3 different Linksys agents trying to get the Port Fowarding set up correctly and by the end, I had no internet connection at all.

 

By the way, how do I know what port to forward? I tried 10080.

 

Are you making good use of LiveShare? I'm wondering if I should continue to invest time in getting this set up or if I should just cut bait and get set up with a Snapfish or some other photo sharing service. What'd you think?
