I got the email today about choosing MyDVD 8 Essentials, My DVD 8 Premiere, or Easy Media Creator 8. I opted to download and install EMC 8.

 

I am really familiar with MyDVD 6.1 and love the layout. I'm not at all happy with the layout of EMC8. If I choose to get MyDVD 8 Premiere, will it be more similar in layout to MyDVD 6.1, or will it look just like it does in EMC8?

Essentials is going to be the most crippled package!

 

For life essentials you only need air, food and water. Yet clothing and shelter would be nice…

my burn progress gets up to encoding movie then nothing happens it stays at 0%

It will look just like it does in EMC8. The only difference would be that there may be more options available in it. I got that email also, and the only thing that is not clear is which version of MyDVD8 is included in EMC8. So far, from all the posts regarding options that are on menus, but not available, I'd guess that it's the 'Essentials' version that's in EMC8.

MyDVD 6 and earlier were written by Sonic. EMC 8 is the first product from the merger with Roxio and most of the applications are more similar to the Roxio products except the HOME which uses Sonic's RecordNow technology.
