Windows Intercept Message Re Emc 7

kj106

Question

I had EMC 7 installed on Drive F and EMC 7 shortcut on Drive C. Drive F crashed and burned. I bought a new PC and used a transport program to move files from the old PC to the new PC. The new PC now expects Roxio to be configured whenever I do a Windows-related operation, such as adding a new file to Windows Explorer. The exact messages are:

PREPARING TO INSTALL

PLEASE WAIT WHILE WINDOWS CONFIGURES ROXIO EASY MEDIA CREATOR 7

And then an error message box pops up about 15 times that says: COULD NOT OPEN THE CERTIFICATE READING DLL.

Any suggestions on getting Windows Explorer back without these intercepts?

Thanks, Jack

Did you install EMC 7?

good question. Yes, when I try the install it has an error message: Error 1325. VideoWave is not a valid short file name. The install goes to FINISH and aborts.

Have you gone to the Add/Remove Programs to see if EMC 7 shows up? If it does, try to install it. If nothing is there, try using the Microsoft Cleanup Utility to get rid of all Roxio and Sonic files on your computer, reboot, then try to install.

GP Bruce - you are good; really good. I now have control of the PC for Windows Explorer ops, but Roxio will not install - I now get Error 1324: PATH SOUND EDITOR CONTAINS AN INVALID CHARACTER. I don't think it will ever install, but at least the annoying DLL hunt is no longer an issue. Thanks and regards, Jack
