Can't Transfer Shows with Red 'do not enter' Circles

Ericc22

Question

Greetings,

I just installed Tivo To Go along with Toast. I have an accurate list on Tivo To Go of all my programs. On Tivo, all the shows have either green balls, or yellow balls as icons before the show name. On Tivo to Go, some of the shows have green balls and yellow balls as per Tivo. But some shows are preceded by an icon that is a red circle with a diagonal line going through it. Any show with this icon can't be transferred to my Mac.

Here is the weird thing - for a show with a season pass, some can be transfered and some can't. So for example I can't transfer the older episode of The Simpsons but I can transfer the new one. Same for a cooking show from PBS - the newer 3 can be transfered, the older 3 can't.

FYI I amusing a Macbook pro and a Tivo 2. I spoke to Tivo and they tell me it is a Roxio issue. I have rebooted the router and the Tivo.

All help for solving this is most appreciated!!

Eric

Thank you for the response! I wish I liked the answer better though!!

I had called Tivo about this and they said it was a Roxio issue. Is it in fact a Tivo issue? The weird thing is like you say, some shows I can download, and others I can't. Also, someone else in this forum said he had the problem and then it went away - so maybe there is a fix?? At least in this one case the problem went away.

And thanks again for the reply!

That's a semi-bug.

Tivo set up some shows so that they couldn't be downloaded. A great example of this are the Tivo-casts from stuff like CNet, etc. Those can't be downloaded.

There is a flag somewhere in the broadcast signal that tells the tivo what is allowed to be downloaded and what isn't.

In my experience, sometimes the flags get confused especially on PBS shows. I don't think there's a work around.

I have only seen this personally on some PBS tivo-ed shows. I think this may be questions better suited for the infinite wisdom of the people over on the Tivo Community website.
