emc9rmv.exe and permissions Vista

Mike18

Question

Is there anyone else that is getting an error message from Windows Vista that they don't have permission or the path can't be found to run this file? I am trying to install EMC9 Suite on a Dell and have had nothing but problems.

Thanks for any suggestions other than returning my new Dell

Hi Mike18,

I have not seen the problem you are experiencing, but, depending on the combination of different Vista versions, different EMC9 packages (EMC9, EMC9 Deluxe, OEM versions), different Anti-Virus configurations, etc., EMC9 users are experiencing a wide variety of issues.

To make it easier for the people in this forum to give better advice, it's important that you tell us a bit more information, such as which version of Vista you are using and which version of EMC9 you are trying to install.

Since you have a new Dell computer, I'll make an assumption that it came with Dell's OEM version of EMC9 pre-installed. Is this correct? If so, the first thing you need to do is make sure that the original installation of EMC9 is completely removed. You can use this link; http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000127CR to completely remove an existing installation of EMC9.

Once this is done, temporarily disable and anti-virus software (Norton, McAfee, Avast, etc) and turn off UAC (User Access Control). Complete the EMC9 / EMC9 Deluxe installation and reboot. After reboot, apply the following patch; 32-Bit DLA patch, to fix the Sonic DLA Compatability problem. Enable your anti-virus software and turn on UAC.

HTH!
