Turn off Auto Eject after burn

Richard Fdisk.exe

Question

(sorry if this is already addressed but I tried the "search forum" feature and all I get is an error page)

Anybody know how to do this;

It used to be done in the registry before XP SP2; when SP2 came around they pawned it off on the software vendors.

I use ECDC 5 Platinum on the desktop which when ECDC 5 was installed it was installed under XP SP1 and I got tired of the disk popping out when the burn was complete. I got a reg fix from a friend and he told me to go to ►HKEY.... LocalMachine....Services\CDROM

I don't have the exact sequence but under CDROM was a setting that actually said: "Auto Eject after Burn" and to turn it off the value was set to 0, and the setting was global, all cd/dvd writing programs were stopped from popping the drive after a write is complete, with the exception of burning multiple copies.

Now we have a Dell D620 with the "Dell Edition of EMC 9" and XPSP2 and now under SP2 the registry entry: ...\CDROM\Services\"Auto Eject after Burn" doesn't exist.

and turning it off in the properties window only stops a windows burned disk from being popped.

How do I stop the disk from being popped out when it's done?

I always check the contents of the disk and would rather not have to push the tray back in.

I already had the system Administrator use M$ "PowerToys" to completely disable autorun and autoplay, so I don't get those annoying windows from windows about what I want to do about the disk in the drive.

Plus it's easier on the drive to not have to be popped 4 times to do a disk.

What program are you using? If it is Creator Classic, there is a check box in the Advanced settings, once you are set to burn.

I have the full EMC 9 at home and the "Roxio Creator LE Dell Edition" at work because it was preloaded.

I can't find the "Creator Classic" mode on the Dell Edition I don't know if it has it.

There's just an silver disk Icon in the quick launch called "Creator Home" and when you click on it opens up a project list from where I can make DATA CD/DVD; Audio CD; Copy; Backup PC; etc.

here are the specs from the "About This Software" under the help menu:

I'm not familiar with that particular registry tweak, but if the value you want does not exist in your registry, you could try creating it (in the right pane of Regedit for the key where you want to place it, right click click new, select appropriate type (could be String or DWord; check what you had before), name it, set it to 0.

If it does not work, you can always go back and delete it.

It was in a PC Mag about 2 years ago
