ac 3 audio issue

bg33

Question

Hello all,

new to toast 8 and mac....have been using nero on win xp before this....anyways, i have a movie that is in xvid and i converted it to DVD using toast 8....but when i played it on a dvd player, i got no audio. the file plays fine on my mac using VLC player and after i downloaded an ac 3 codec for quicktime the audio plays there too (but makes cracking sound) anyways....i noticed only two different audio converting settings in toast....PCM or dolby digital, when i made my 1st copy it was on dolby digital......should i change this to pcm in order to get audio if i try and burn this to DVD again?

thanks

brent

If memory serves from what I've read , the qtac3 codec is no longer in development and does not work properly with Intel Macs (most recent version is December 2005). The a52 codec is more reliable, still in development, and should be used instead.
