Trouble With Tivo

beaglestar

Question

Yes I have MY DVD 9 and Vista will not let me burn on a disc the stuff I transfer from TIVO. Which is not copy righted. But Vista thinks it is and Microsoft says it is part Vista and Part Roxio. All the Roxio products do the same even Creator 9. Roxio says they have heard of this problem. But they don't know how to fix it either. So what I pay Tivo for I cannot do. Roxio is the only software that can transfer Tivo files from the tivo to the computer and burn them. So I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.

I know this post is from May but I am looking to upgrade my basic creator 9 to the suite on my windows vista home premium 32 bit. I want to burn a Tivo show to a DVD and convert my Tivo shows to Mpeg 4 because I am getting a portable video player soon. Will creator suite not work? SHould I not upgrade. If I do will I get the 9.1 people aretalking about? I tried calling back Roxio and there closed. But I was told If I get Roxio I can convert Tivo shows to Mpeg 4 for my video player I am getting and then I wouldn't need to upgrade my Tivo 2 Go to the plus. So if the My DVD was to not burn my Tivo program could I not convert it with Roxio then burn it If I had to. I know that is an extra step but as long as it burns on a DVD. But my main concern is to convert to mpeg to play on my portable player. Rose

if you can transfer the TiVo files with TiVo Desktop then view them with WMP, you can use EMC 9 to burn or convert the TiVo files.

Ok I bought the suite today!! I have Tivo 2 Go 2.3a and it works fine on Windows Vista 32 bit. My shows do play on WMP. But when I go to convert a show with the one program or even burn the show with my DVD I get error messages both times. When trying to convert it says I need 2.3 or higher and I have 2.3 and the My DVD gives me another message error message and wont let me add the show at all as a Tivo filewhen trying to see if it will burn. It says cannot edit file wont add or something like that. Could I have burned a DVD with the basic? My Basic had something called MyMuhvee and it locked up when trying to add and burn it would get so far and lock up. I am going to call tech support tomorrow but I read other people had the same problems so I may have to just get a refund. I can buy Tivo to go plus and convert my shows to Mpeg4 for the portable device I am getting but I thought I would go this route instead and it doesn't seem to work even though Roxio said it would before i bought it. I have the version 9.1.

Ok I don't know what to do now I am probably going to have to get a refund on my suite. Roxio claims that when I open disc copier to convert and get the error message must have 2.3 or higher and when I go tomy DVD and it wont let me add a Tivo show saying cannot edit this program will not be added is because of Vista. Tivo 2.3a is not supported by Vista and everyone said it wouldn't work from Tivo but several people with 32 bit vust including me said it worked. I was one of the lucky ones I thought and my new HP Vista 32 bit computer 2.3a works and that is what I have. Everyone else says 2.5 will not work on 32 bit and everyone is having problems. So Roxio says since 2.3 isn't supported by Vista that is why the Roxio wont work and that I am missing a codec that I would get If I installed 2.5 which is suppose to be Vista compatible. So he said it's a codec issue call Tivo. Tivo says they don;t know anything about 2.5 not working for people with 32 bit Vista and said I should be ok by installing it since 2.3 worked. He said I don't need to uninstall 1st with some special utility since I bought a vista computer and am not upgrading from XP or 2.4. So I may just get a refund and use Tivo Desktop Plus. Roxio talked about Direct Dump or Redump something and also I have heard about VideoRedo which also cost 50 bucks. But I need to convert more than I do burn aTico show to DVD so plus will do what I need if I can't get this Roxio thing straightened out.

Thanks, Rose
