Upgraded To Emc 7.5, Now Video Quality Is Worse

I recently upgraded from Roxio 6 to EMC 7.5, and re-rendered a file I had used previously to make a DVD. When I rendererd this file with Roxio 6, the resulting DVD looked fine - but when I render the same file now in DVD Builder 7.5, the video shows a lot of artifacts, particularly on diagonal lines in the image. I confirmed that I had set the video quality in DVD Builder to "Best", but still have the same problems.

 

Again - this is the same raw file I used before, so I have to believe this is a problem either with DVD Builder, or with the settings I am using.

 

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply. Let me try to explain again - I have a WMV file that I am burning to DVD. When I used this file as input to Roxio 6, I got good video on the DVD. When I take the same WMV file and render it through EMC 7.5, now I am seeing the artifacts I described in my original post. I am using the same original file - but I'm getting different results when I render through 6 or through 7.5 (and 6 seems to give better quality).

 

This is why I'm confused - I would have thought that 7.5 would have given at least the same (if not better) quality than through 6.

I don't have an explanation. It might have something to do with your hardware configuration, but that's just speculation.

 

The good news is that you can have both version 6 and version 7 installed on the same computer.

It may be that since you had rendered the file in 6 it may not work to you expectation in version 7

 

Do you still have the orginal file that was rendered in vesion 6. Re render it in version 7 and everthing should be fine

I reloaded v6 last night (now I have both v6 and v7.5 on the same machine), and re-rendered the same original .wmv file through both paths. Rendering in v7.5 is faster, but of lower quality, compared to rendering in v6.

 

There appears to be a difference in the rendering engines used between these two versions, and it looks like a trade-off was made between quality and speed going to v7.5 (at least as implemented on my hardware).

 

I'm trying to get an answer through Roxio tech support, but so far they haven't been able to reply...
