Disc Copier

andrew@thain1977.freeserve.co.uk

Question

Unresolved query from last discussion board.

With Disc Copy I can copy DVDs very easily through the Copy DVD tab however when I use the video compilation tab and bring the same video clips in to amend the start/end position and add menus etc I click on "Burn" and before Phase 1 can start it comes up with "unspecified error [0x8004005].

Anyone have any ideas?

The files I am trying to burn is a video compliation with file reference .dcpf. This is complied from video_ts files.

Version of disk copy is Roxio Easy DVD Copy 2 (Build 801B08F ENU)

Technical Support ID (712372500902)

Hope this helps!

I have a similar problem to the one you describe. I installed Easy DVD Copy 2 a couple of days ago - I can copy discs using disc copier but I can't get the software to produce a Video Compilation.

Using CD & DVD Copier I have transferred DVD camcorder video clips to my hard drive. These are stored in a "VIDEO_TS" directory. Using the Video Compilation function I can select the clips I want from the VIDEO_TS directory. When I click "burn" the "Roxio Disc Copier - Burn Setup" menu pops up. If I OK that then I instantly get "unspecified error [0x80004005]".

I have sent these details to Roxio - ticket number 125434

On the Roxio website there is a tool called Roxanne to help problem solve. This includes a reference to a 0x80004005 error when "burning a VideoCD in DVD Builder" and notes that the solution has been included in a software update for Easy Media Creator 7.

I can't find any software updates for Easy DVD Copy 2 on the Roxio website. Can anyone help with this?

I have also tried to solve this problem by:

1. using a Disk Image File (C2D File). I can select the video clips as before but when I Burn, nothing happens at all - the "Roxio Disc Copier - Burn Setup" menu just disappears.

2. I have two DVD drives so I have placed the master DVD disc in one and the blank DVD in the other. Using the Video Compliation function, I can browse the master DVD and highlite the video clips that I want to burn to the blank disc. But when I click "OK" to confirm the selection, Easy DVD Copy 2 crashes - "Roxio Disc Copier has encountered a probelem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience...'

Any ideas on how to solve this would be appreciated!

My version of Easy DVD Copy 2 is the same as the one below (Version of disk copy is Roxio Easy DVD Copy 2 (Build 801B08F ENU)) although my Tech Support ID is 710238640085.

I too am having the same problem. The only way I get around it is to go to a laptop with the same program and no DVD burner. It creates an .ISO file and then I come back to my PC and can burn the DVD from that ISO image. They need to fix this quickly and I just installed the latest updates and they didn't help.

I copied several DivX's with out a problem, but when I tried to copy an XVid I got the same error message.

I tried a repair and that didn't work so I downloaded the XVid codec in case it had been corrupted and sure enough it worked.

Still working through all the other errors I am getting in the other programs.

Greetings,

I am having a similar issue as ushiyama. When I go to Video Compilation within Disc Copier and click on Add Movies, it just crashes.

Within the Windows XP event viewer log I get an Event ID 1000 with the description of:

"Faulting application disccopier8.exe, version 8.0.5.42, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0003426d."

Has anyone found a solution to this?

I have exactly the same problem. I couldn't make compilations at all from DVD - when I added the clips I want into the window it just stayed blank, but told me the project size. So I've copied my DVD to hard disk and then I can make my compilation. When I try to burn it or save to a folder I just get that 'Unspecified Error' thing. Also , once this has happened I can't run the application again until I've logged out of windows. I'm running XP SP2 on a brand new machine, 2 months old with only Microsoft Office and Norton AV. All legit. I only loaded this 2 days ago and I honestly wish i hadn't bought it. It seems to be a known problem from DVD Creator.

Blaketwo have you had any joy from Roxio on your ticketnumber? Would be interested to hear as there seems to be a lot of interest from people on this subject from the number of views but no-one seems to know how to solve it! Are Roxio still trying to figure it out and will release a fix soon? It would be nice to know, even if only to know how long it will be before we can use the software properly.

What types of files are you using in the video compilation, and if you go to HELP --> ABOUT in Disc Copier what version are you using?

I am having the same problem, no one seems to know that error .I personally think that Roxio should apologize for this version. If anything works right one time, it won't the next time. I worked for days trying to figure out this program and finally created a great photo with music background. Did it in video wave. It copied to one dvd fine, now when I try to copy the dvd, I get that error 8000whatever. Program hangs up, all kinds of frustration. I want a refund.

Hi everyone,

I just came to the board to post the same problem.

Am working with latest version of Roxio 8 with brand new PC - Windows XP sp2. I have had great success copying dvd-r's, however I have a few with 2 programs on them (originally created with a dvd recorder) and I can't figure out how to separate the 2 programs and burn them individually.

After some research, I tried the video compilation option - I can see both videos. I select one and as soon as it tries to read the program to load it, Roxio crashes. I can copy that DVD-R in it's entirety, no problem. But try to take one of the programs individually and no go! I've tried this so many times it's silly.

I can see from these posts that this looks to be a glitch overall. Is there any workaround that you can think of to save the programs independently?? I am fairly new to DVD burning so am not sure of all of the different options out there.

Thanks and I'll keep watching this thread to see if there are any answers overall.

Lisa
