ggrussell
Get it here. For an open source project, they seem to keep the updates coming fairly often.
JC
How would this download benefit me? What is open source? Thank You.
ggrussell
Open source code meaning anyone can download the source code. AC3 is an audio codec developed by Dolby Inc. and if you use their codec, it must be licensed which adds to the price of an application. The open source version was developed by programmers that donated their time to backward engineer the Dobly codec. As a user, doesn't really mean much other than it's free to use. If you have video files that use AC3 and you can't hear the audio, this free AC3 codec will allow you to hear it.

Gary, would that include the folks who have the Basic version of EMC 7 and EMC 7.5 that did not have AC3 capabilites, because the version didn't include the codec? ggrussell
Yes, it should. This AC3 filter works with a lot of software like editors and players.

There are still quesitons on AC3, every once in awhile, in the EMC 7/7.5 forums.
Style
I installed AC3Filter. When I attempt to create a movie with AC3 using MyDVD 9, I still do not get any sound. Can anyone offer any guidance? Thanks!
gi7omy
If you have one of the 'lite' or OEM versions, it is disabled (along with Xvid and so on) - why they did it that way is a mystery

cdanteek
What is it called in start all programs? Did you buy it or did it come pre-installed on the PC? List the program applications by name. Go to help about in one of the applications a version # should be listed. You won't enable the feature, probably have to buy a full retail version.... cd

ggrussell
You might be able to find EMC 9 or 10 retail version somewhere real cheap. Just be careful with purchasing on eBay. Have you tried Movie Maker that comes with Windows? You could load the video there and 'Output to my Computer' as DV AVI. That should work in EMC 9 DE.
