Title Banner for News Show

Jamiers

Question

Hi All,

I am trying to produce a news show for my elementary schoolers. I would like to be able to place an overlay of our TV show logo and a black bar at the bottom of the screen that I can just insert as an overlay.

I think this is the way to do it, but I am at a total loss. I am new to EMC9, and am having a lot of difficulty. #1, I took my logo and shrunk it in my graphics program. When I open it in anything (other than EMC), it looks fine. The minute I insert the photo (as an overlay) it is completely distorted.

Is there a premade overlay that has a black bar that I can use (even without the graphic)? I can't seem to find it. I'm just looking to put the kids names under their headshots and add some titles to their reports. I want to be the same for every time I do it... and get the logo on it if possible.

Suggestions?

Jamie

Easy, you can use JPG or PNG and just add the image(s) to the overlay track(s). You can have more than one overlay, too.

Open Vidoewave

Create your project

Add the video footage to main track.

Add the still image Logo to overlay track.

Switch to Timeline to add more overlay tracks. PNG works better bevause it support transparent backgrounds. JPG does not.

Okay, I'm not such an idiot.... but let me show you what I have. Thanks for responding Gary. The fireworks graphic is posted quite clear, but when I put it in as an overlay on the slide, it looks blurry. Am I doing something wrong? The graphics size is 720x540. It is for a 4x3 production.

I do Add Photo/Video and then select my png. Add it as an overlay... is that correct too?

Look at the SoutheastTV logo in the bottom of each of the slides. Why is the VideoWave one blurry?

The preview in Video Wave is not necessarily what you are going to see on a finished project. Make a short project, output it to an mpg2 for DVD best quality. When that encodes, play the mpg2 file on your computer.

As Steve points out, the preview in Videowave and MyDVD are designed to be lower resolution so the user gets a quickier response when editing video. Full resolution would slow things down a lot. Output to a file and play it back on the computer to see the real deal.
