HARWARE ERROR

Every time I burn a DVD now I keep getting the same error: "This drive reported an error: sense key=HARDWARE ERROR sense code=0x03,0x01"

 

Please tell me something is not wrong with my DVD burner? I have a MacBook Pro and would not be very pleased if that was the case. Every once in a while I am able to burn one or two at a time, but the majority of the time I get the same message.

 

Any ideas?

i have the same problem and its not the media becuase i have usedthat brand of disks for about a year it only happens every now and again but i just tried burning a few dual layer dvd's and it didnt like it so im going 2 take my macbook pro back to pcworld and get the drive replaced. i have buisness cover so i should be okay. if its under 12 months old take it back if not then i would try and get it replaced anyways.

You mention problems burning to DL discs. The only brand of those that work reliably from what I've read is Verbatim DVD+R DL so be sure to try those.

What media are you using?

 

I use Taiyo Yuden -R SL and Verbatim +R DL and don't have a problem.

 

Use Good Media.

I'm using Memorex DVD-R. I've burned hundreds of DVDs with these disc so I don't understand why they wouldn't be working...

Most burn errors are caused by poor/cheap media. I think you might want to consider using better brand of media which should resolve the issue. If possible try performing lens cleaning for the recorder.
