Fire Rescue Girl
Hi, I have a question about my Easy CD Creator 5. I was running it on Windows XP and it was running fine. The other day I got the no supported CD recorder message. I looked at another topic and followed the advice there but I still recieve the same error message. I have uninstalled the program, run roxizap, reinstalled the program from the CD, done both updates from the roxio site, and restarted the computer and still I get the same error message. Anybody have any ideas what I should try next?
gi7omy
At the risk of seeming like a parrot and repeating everything Did you let the computer install Internet Explorer 7 and/or Media Player 11? If so - remove them.
Fire Rescue Girl
I still have Internet Explorer 6 and Windows Media Player 10.
ogdens
I still have Internet Explorer 6 and Windows Media Player 10. When you uninstalled/reinstalled did do it this way excactly:: Uninstall using the add/remove in the Control Panel. Then use this http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe to remove anything left over (run it twice). Install ECDC5 from the cd. If the install says there are no supported recorders –– tell it to install anyway. (the updates will add support for some newer drives) DO NOT REBOOT. Run all the updates –– be sure to run 5.3.5, before driveup. Reboot. Make sure you get the right update Basic or Platinum I am assuming that your burner is ok....try a test by using the built in burning capabilities of XP.....take a small file, use a CD-RW (you can erase it later) see if that works. Then you know the burners good (or not).
Guest ml
It's also possible that you need the ECDC 5 drive update on the Roxio Support - Software updates. You reinstalled the program and the software no longer automatically updates itself so you need to do it manually. ( I just reinstalled Movie Creator and it wouldn't recognize my DVD burner so I had to use that update to get the program to recognize my burner.) Fire Rescue Girl
I tried what you guys said in the last 2 posts and I still get the same error message. Not only do I get that message now, but none of my other programs that use the drive will work. Sonic, I tunes and Lightscribe cannot find a recorder either, but they had worked previously to trying this. I did test the drive by burning a files to a CD-RW and it worked fine. gi7omy
To be completely honest, I'm surprised you even got ECD5 to work with iTunes installed - it's quite an old program and doesn't co-exist with iTunes and other things

bravoss
hello. i have exactly the same problem, when i click on any of the recording options such as dragging, or create a data cd it give me an error but it does start, then when i want to record a cd it says no recorder. i tried many thing, even trying if nero will work and it doesnt work. so it's not only roxio, it probably has to do something with my pc. the only thing that i can think of is that recorder went down. sorry for grammar mistakes, i was in hurry. computer does detect my drive so i have a feeling it has something to do with registrys. gi7omy
Is the drive showing in control panel, system, hardware, device manager? If is is with a yellow mark right click on it and uninstall, Reboot and see if it is detected One other thing - did you allow the computer to install Internet Explorer 7 and/or Media Player 11? Those could be the cause of the problem as well

You may have the same SYMPTOMS, but unless you have exactly the same Operating System, Computer, burner, and program Version as Fire Rescue Girl had when she posted in April (2 months ago), you may not have the same PROBLEM. Consider that if a car won't start, it may because of no fuel in the tank, no key in the ignition, etc - and those are considered different problems by the mechanic down at the garage. Did you try the things that helped Fire Rescue Girl? Did you try the things Digital Guru gi7omy has suggested? If that doesn't work, I'd suggest going to the FREQUENT ANSWERS post pinned to the top of the board, and coming back with enough additional info about your specific system so that we can help you better. gi7omy
You didn't say if the drive is showing in device manager - if it's not then the drive itself may be dead and needing replaced
bravoss
yeah it does show the drive in device manager, like everything is ok.

gi7omy
I was sort of afraid that may be the case - but 16x DVD burners are cheap these days (probably cost less than you paid for the Samsung)
