Mac slows way down when toast is running

Greetings,

 

I am currently running Toast 8.0.1 on a powerbook G4, 1.5GHz. While toast is burning, my entire system bogs down. Even if I try to minimize the toast window I get the spinning disk. Simple programs such as Mail take quite a while to load. I have never had this problem with Toast 7. Any help would be appreciated. I haven't yet spotted a current discussion on this.

Old G4 had the hard drive and burner on the same bus. This really slows things down because there is not enough bandwidth.

 

Are you just burning, or encoding video?

I havent seen a symptom like this before. What OS version are you running?
