cd spin doctor (overlap tracks or Concatanate) from an itunes track

dan McCarter

Question

Hello

This is my first post so excuse any mistakes I make. I Love Spindoctor and use it a lot but need to know how to better use it. I have two tunes in itunes that I would like to bring into Spindoctor and concatenate. I have played all of my old Cassettes into spin doctor and imported them into itunes. I then deleted the import file and took the cassettes to Goodwill.

The problem is I defined 1 song into 2 tracks and would like to bring them both back into spin doctor and make one track out of them. There are two problems

1. How do I get them back into spindoctor

2. How do I concatenate them once they are there

Thanks for any reply.

Spin Doctor cannot do that. You can do it with QuickTime Pro or an audio editing application. There also is a roundabout way to do it using Toast and iTunes. Drag both tracks to Toast's audio CD window. Select a zero-second pause between the tracks. You also can use the custom crossfades window to make sure the audio is seamless between the tracks. Now choose Save as Disc Image. The import the resulting .Sd2f file into iTunes. iTunes will treat it as a single audio track.

Toast doesn't include the tools to do this. I think you can put to audio files together with Quicktime Pro. I am sure there are some other audio editing tools out there that will do it as well.

I have a playlist in itunes which is one CD and there are no gaps. It is on MP3 format. Can I bring this MP3 file into Spin doctore and seperate the tracks?

Thanks

You first need to convert the MP3 to AIFF before it can be opened in Spin Doctor. You can do this in Toast by adding the MP3 to the Audio window, select it and click Export. If you don't want to convert the MP3 file then you might try the application Fission. I have no experience with it. A free application that does MP3 cutting is Audion. However, cutting compressed audio (or video) is not very precise.

This sounds like a good idea. Thanks. I didn't see any way to get the Mp3 to Aiff format.

I hjave tried this and I can get the Mp3 into toats but once there there is no export button, and I have searched thru the dropdown menus and can't find a way to do this.

Am I missing Something?

When you click on one or more of the MP3 tracks in the Audio window so they are highlighted the Export button at the bottom of the window becomes active. Clicking the Export button gets you a list of various available formats that are available including AIFF.
