Vista/Roxio Creator 9 DE=can't burn AVI's to dvd

sunkori

Question

Hello you techie gurus! Please help.

So first time i've ever gotten a dvd burner so i'm excited.

I got Vista Premium. and my dell includes Roxio Creator DE.

Roxio recognizes i have AVI files but won't let me add it to my dvd project?

the avi just has a big "x" on it:

I have been reading solutions and someone said that i need to convert my avi files into .vob files. However, i also read that roxio can automatically detect .avi and convert it?

Any clue what's going on? Thanks for any help!

thanks for the tipoff gi7omy! I read it several times and don't get it. I know it's shameful since everyone in that thread was saying it's awesome and straight forward.

the thread is closed to new posts so maybe someone can followup on my q's here?

EMC 9 was preloading on my laptop. Afterwards i installed the K-lite codeic pack. so i guess that would mean i got 2 DirectShow Decode filter's file DivXDec.ax

how do you find which one's in the windows/system32? I opened the system32 folder but don't see a file that says divxdec.ax. tried window's search and it didn't pop u either. I'm using Vista so not sure how to navigate thru this.

please help!!!
