Question

HI

IM CURRENTLY USING ROXIO CREATOR LE- DELL EDITION AND HAVING PROBLEMS BURNING CDS. WHEN I GO TO DISC COPY IT TELLS ME THAT NO DRIVE IS DETECTED. I HAVE WENT THROUGH DEVICE MANAGER TO CHECK THAT EVERYTHING AS IT SHOULD BE AND ALL SEEMS FINE, NO NASTY EXCLAMATION MARKS.

WHEN I CLOSE THE ROXIO I GET 2 ERROR MESSAGES BOTH HAVE THE TITLE MEDIAHUB.EXE APPLICATION ERROR

THE INSTRUCTION AT "0x0036aea8" REFERENCED MEMORY AT "0x0025fd0". THE MEMORY COULD NOT BE WRITTEN.

THE INSTRUCTION AT "0X129DF9B2" REFERENCED MEMORY AT "0XFFFFFFFF" MEMORY COULD BE READ.

ANY SUGGESTION ON HOW TO SOLVE THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

THANKS

Try this first;

If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed, roll back to IE6. The same applies to WMP 11, roll back to

WMP 10.

You've given us no information about your computer or burner - sort of like "there's a rattle in my car" without saying what kind of car, or where the rattle is.

Assuming you got this pre-installed with your Dell computer, what Dell model is it, and does it still have the burner that came with the comptuer, or did you change it?

For all we know, you only have a CD-ROM rather than a CD burner.

i have a dell inspiron 6000 running windows xp media edition. It has a -NEC DVD+RW ND 6650A. I have previously been able to burn cds no problems. Recently i got an error code 31 and had exlamation marks on the drive through device manager so went to the microsft newsgroup site and downloaded a patch. I thought everything was fine until i tried to burn a cd. Sorry for the lack of info. im not that technically minded.

Yes you uninstall IE 7 thru Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel.

If that doesn't solve it, take a look at this KB article that references mediahub.exe

From the Roxio knowledgebase (for IE 7) -

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000017CR

Users who wish to continue to use Easy Media Creator 7.x can safely remove Internet Explorer 7 and automatically revert to Internet Explorer 6, thus restoring full functionality to DVD Builder and other components that may have been effected. To do this:

1. Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs.

2. Scroll down the list of Currently installed programs to Windows Internet Explorer 7 and select it.

3. Click the Remove button

4. A window asking to reboot will appear. Before rebooting, be sure to save any work you may have completed.

IE 7 and WinPlayer 11 apparently overwrite files needed by a lot of software (not just Roxio) with different contents but the same name, thus "breaking" the programs.

It appears you've already looked up error code 31 in the Microsoft Knowledgebase.
