Clean Install seems to always be the answer with Roxio

Ashley2

Question

I have only had this product for 3 weeks and have to contact Roxio 3 times. Initally, it was due to my DVD-RAM drive not working anymore after installing the product. Then it would not uninstall and reinstall properly. I was then told to do a Clean Install which takes quite some time. Well, it worked fine after that. Yippee!!

Now, I want to open a project I have been working on for the last two weeks and can't because I have to activate codec MPEG-2. But can not get an acitvation code because my product key is invalid...imagine that....I tried to manually activate...didn't work....I called the 800 number....the last five digits are invalid...and now I'm irritated.

I suppose I will have to try to Clean Install....again...but I just don't feel like this should be the constant solution. For what this program costs the consumer program errors should be the exception not the rule. And just by looking through the forums here it is apparently the rule. I sure wish I had checked the prior to purchasing the product although I do love it when it is working correctly.

Did you check this post?

No, I hadn't seen it before. However, my CD key works and is valid. It is the product key for activating the codec for MPEG-2 that it will not recognize. I get the ol' "ERR_ACTIVATION_INVALID_PK" message for manual activation, for automatic activation I get the Invalid Product Code message, and on the phone I am asked to retype the last five digits of the code. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that when I get the time to perform the clean install (which is difficult to find when you have a 6 month old) that the project I have been working on will still operate correctly.

Thank you for taking you time to send me the link. I appreciate the help.

UPDATE: I performed the Clean Install and the activation finally went through. However, after doing so Videowave would "request to terminate in an usual way" and the program would close. So I contacted online chat support and lo' and behold thier solution is to (drumroll please) Perform a Clean Install!!! (insert mock shock face here) Needless to say I performed the Clean Install....again...and now Roxio is working ok....again....for the moment....

I am starting to feel like Forest Gump when it comes to Clean Install. "I got to meet the President of the United States....again....and go to the White House....again..." :D
