Is the statement below true? :(

For all chat not related to CD/DVD burning software. No Roxio discussion here! Chat about anything in life that interests you or just stop by to say hi. :) Posts that do not belong here will be removed. :o

Does that mean if you don't like me it will be removed? I did service in the US Army for freedom, please don't tell me now that was a waste of my youth!

How would your, "service in the US Army for freedom", in any way, shape or form be of relevance here???

The 1st Amendment to the US Constitution says that Congress shall pass no law….

So unless Roxio is running this country, our "Freedom of Speech" can indeed be abridged by any and all, just as long as it is not the US Congress!

It is a shame to live in a country and not know your basic rights or where they don't extend.

As a Viet Nam Vet, who served in many of the same operational areas as you, I sincerely appreciate your service!

It has relevance here only in the fact that we are free to be here on this forum, own our computers etc. who knows what the world would look like now, had it not been for the men and women who served and are serving now.

As another vietnam vet from an era when it was called Indo-China, I have observed the world around me and don't see much improvement for the sacrifices, if any.

Then there was McNamara who thought he knew it all and ended up as President of the World Bank. Now we have Wolfowitz who knew it all in Iraq and he too got the job only to be discovered as the fox in the henhouse...

Soldiers die but the leaders move on to lucrative positions and will write their memoirs explaining what they didn't know then...

Hindsight, mon ami, is 100%

C'est la vie...so the French say.

Hey Vets,

We may not have thought about it at the time we were young and in the military, but by now we should realize this country is not merely "about" freedom of speech. It's also about domestic tranquility, too, as the Preamble to the Constitution says. While that phrase means the federal government shall have the power to put down rebellions against the government and war between the States, it's also filtered down to the local level where a court issued a restraining order against a wealthy movie star because of his telephone tirade aimed at his 12 year old daughter.

So we can't go into a movie theater with impunity and start shouting, to the dismay of all the theatergoers. Nor can we post with impunity a string of obscenities or even off-topic messages on blogs/newsgroups/chat rooms, etc.

We enjoy freedom in our country, but not license.

Go in peace,

Richard

Korean War vet

Served in BW1, Narsarsuaq, Greenland, for a year

Volunteered to go to Korean theater

Never got sent there, probably because I was too dumb

Served state-side for two years and got released early after the armistice
