Andre J
Just got MCE Tech's Blu Ray burner fro the MAC PRO along with Toast. It's a MATSHITA BD-MLT SW-5582 Tried writing to a dual layer 50GB BD disc, but TOAST wanted to span two discs?! So, maybe it doesn't support dual layer with this burner? Wrote a 22 GB data disc (45 minutes!) only to have it refuse to mount on the desktop. Did a quick erase.. .. it wouldn't show up as writable. Did a long erased, as it was a TDK DB-RE 25 GB (45 minutes).. it still wouldn't show up as writable. Tried the dynamic format (instant).. it still wouldn't show up as writable. Did a quick erase.. it showed up as writable. Wrote a smaller 8 GB data disc, only to have it refuse to mount on the desktop. The documentation for BR burning in Toast is microscopic, with no troubleshooting... Anybody have any ideas? Aj
Andre J
In the Toast 8 setup assistant, you have to install the BD support kext and restart the computer. Thanks, but I did that already. So that was not the problem. For some reason, everything has started working. What I have learned is that dynamic writing is VERY, VERY, VERY slow... but very cool for incremental backups. If you need to write a lot of data, disk at once is the way to go.
