MyDVD 9 Studio Premier has corrupted all video drivers

europac

Question

I have contacted support three times with no response.

I tried to install the Roxio MyDVD9 Studio Premiere (upgrade to MyDVD on system), but had to un-install it after it corrupted all of the video drivers on the system associated with the AVID edit system. I had to re-install the edit system.

As I have not received any response, I have posted a message on the AVID forum warning people NOT to install your product as it has serious conflicts and that your support is non-existent. Now I'm posting here - if you have any edit program on your system - DO NOT INSTALL THIS PROGRAM as it will over write the video codec drivers needed for the edit system. Do not upgrade (which is what I did), it will corrupt your system.

Roxio support is useless - posted messages on April 6th - no response to the problem. Sounds like they are already aware of it, as they don't respond. :angry2:

It appears you have no idea what a 'video driver' is. Perhaps you meant video codecs? Even at that, installing another editor shouldn't affect that. I have 5 installed including EMC 9 and at one time, I had more with no conflicts. Most likely it's an Avid problem.

I went to the Avid site and found that post. I could not find what the poster meant with "Avid edit". I'm not sure why a person would buy a $50 dollar program to help with one that cost many times more than that and is usually used on linked computers (Unity). The OP got one response that agreed that tech service was bad and therefore that other person switched to the $1200 Adobe program. (How many $35 calls is that?) Most other posts concerning Roxio were for DVDiT. Can we say apples and oranges? I can almost guess that there was an interference with a packet writing program rather than video driver or codec.

This being just a user site, it's not our software. It's possible one of their board moderators may see your post, but not likely.

That aside, have you tried any of the other support contact methods, like the LiveChat or the toll free number?

I don't agree that they know about your issue being a problem and are ignoring it. I don't recall seeing anyone post about this happening before.

Did you uninstall the MyDVD that was on your system, BEFORE you installed MyDVD9 Studio?
