Merge Video and Audio

netmation

Question

Trying to convert some old movies but my Camcorder does not have a microphone jack. So need to record the video and audio separately. Using Roxio is it farily easy to sync a video and audio together or is this going to be near impossible? Does it work any better having the video and audio in certain formats?

You don't need a microphone jack. How are you trying to connect your camcorder to your computer? Is it an analog or digital camcorder?

Can you please clarify. You're saying "recording" but I wonder if you actually mean trying to import/capture movies from your camcorder to the PC. Please provide more details. And what model is your camcorder?

Let me do a better job of explaining here my problem. I am trying to convert some Super 8 movies to DVD. So the first step is to record the video with my Camcorder. The Super 8 projector I have has a proprietary speaker output which I think I can use to try to record the audio separately. If my Camcorder had a microphone input I could wire the audio into the Camcorder when I film the video. So I may end up with a Camcorder Hi8 Tape I can input into my PC, and a seperate audio track I can hopefully get into my PC. Was wondering if Roxio would enable me to sync the video file to the audio file farily easily?

If you get both onto your computer, you use VideoWave to create the production. You put the audio on one of the audio tracks in VideoWave. You can then move it one way or the other to get it to sync with the video.

Is it easy? Not always, but you may get lucky and not have to do much work to get it in sync.
