A few questions?

Question

I'm interested in trying the program and I'd like a few additional info.

From what I understand BOT creates snapshots; what do these snapshots contain? Are they full backups of everything protected by the program or are they simply incremental, like Norton GoBack's? Because I want to know how much space such backups take. On a 40GB harddrive a full snap of my system would take some 20GB; on the other hand your "300MB" mention is encouraging that that's not the case.

Secondly, I'd like to know if the program can make more than ONE snapshot; so far the documentation I got disproves that. :(

And third I'd like to know about when I could be expecting a Vista-compatible version.

Thank you.

EDIT: Also, can snapshots be scheduled?

It´s a bit like GoBack. Only changes to the protected folders are monitored. So for one thing, all your documents, photos, etc are ignored, which saves a lot of space. Secondly, only changes are logged, which keeps the volume down. Finally, the only data that really gets backed up is data that is removed. If you install a new app for example, BackOnTrack only notes this, but does not need to back anything up. The data is already there right? So basically it does not need a lot of space. It grows over time, especially if you modify system files (as in OS updates for example) often. If it gets too big, you can set a new snapshot. That will clear all the logs and backups.

No can do... Not the version 2.7. Upcoming releases for Vista will have no limits on the number of snapshots.

And third I'd like to know about when I could be expecting a Vista-compatible version.

Pretty soon I think. Sometime this summer.

EDIT: Also, can snapshots be scheduled?

Nope. But in the upcoming Vista release you can schedule weekly snapshots.
