I have been burning MPEG2 files from an HD camera to DVD using Toast 7.1.2. I have a box of Fuji 16x media that hasn't made any coasters. Two months ago the burns took about 5 mins max. No software has changed. Lately the burns have become very slow.
I set the burn parameters at 8x and the burn starts and shows about 4 minutes to burn. As the burn progresses it starts counting down about one second for every 4 and toward the end it goes to one second for every 6 or 8. Thus, the whole burn takes FOREVER. The burn finally ends and the disc is readable just fine.
What would cause the burn to go progressively slower when the speed parameter is set at 8x and I am using 16x media?
