karnor1
Every time I've tried to copy a DVD using Disc Copier, I get an "unrecovered read error 03/11/00" message. The DVDs I'm trying to copy are not copyprotected and are legal to copy. I didn't have any trouble in the past copying them, but since I had to reformat the computer and do some work with reinstalling Easy CD/DVD Creator 6 (thanks to digital guru for the help), it just hasn't worked properly. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
karnor1
I finally got a disk to go all the way through the copy process, but when I tried to continue recording to a new disk, I get an error saying the media is not compatible. It's the same type of disk I've been using for the last year! A few times I got a no media detected message.
karnor1
Help!!! Doesn't anyone know how to help me solve this problem? Or is there another board I should move it to?
james_hardin
Help!!! Doesn't anyone know how to help me solve this problem? Or is there another board I should move it to? It sounds like a hardware issue. See if there is a firmware update for your drive.
karnor1
Everything for both Roxio and my DVD burner are up to date. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I guess I'm just frustrated because this is the exact same setup/hardware/software and firmware that I was using before I had to do a nondestructive reformat. You have not really said what things you have tried… Can you burn with Classic? What are the source files? What media are you using? What burner? karnor1
Sorry for the delay in replying. I've had more problems with other computers that I've been tied up with. Can you burn with Classic? Yes. I have burned two DVDs (data files only) since my last post, but I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio since then too, because the computer stopped recognizing the drive. What are the source files? video files (ifo, buf, vob) These are educational programs downloaded and recorded from satellite on a DVD recorder. I'm recopying them with permission, so I know they aren't protected. What media are you using? DVD-R. The burner should be able to handle all formats, but I can't get it to record on any other than the DVD-R What burner? TDK 440N internal 4x multiformat - indiDVD I guess my frustration comes from the fact that I have been able to copy the exact same DVDs in the past without any trouble. I've had all kinds of problems since reformatting the computer. Since my last post, I had a conflict with the computer loading the driver for the DVD, but not recognizing the hardware. I uninstalled Roxio, ran Roxizap, made sure all service packs, etc. were updated, then reinstalled Roxio. I also downloaded and installed all updates/firmware for both Roxio and for the TDK DVD burner. I have since been able to burn two DVDs of data files (backing up documents, etc. from the computer). I was also to copy a different educational DVD just like the ones I was trying to copy earlier. But when I tried to copy another, I got the same "Unrecovered read error" message that I got before. Maybe it just happened that the three DVDs I picked to copy earlier all have some type of damage to them that I cannot see...

The fact it is a multi format drive but you can't get it to use + media… One other option available to you with V6 is to use Classic to burn the DVD. If understand correctly, you have a VIDEO_TS folder with the VOB, IFO, etc. files in it. From Classic, Data project, set properties to UDF, No Bridge and when burning be sure to Disc at Once to finalize it. This should produce a disc that will play on any player. karnor1
"This should produce a disc that will play on any player." You've done it again! Thanks again for your help. Between this thread and the one other I posted a few weeks ago, you've solved the problem. With your method, I had a back-up for when Disc Copier doesn't do the trick. Thanks again!
