Would you please verify what version of Roxio you have.

Go into Creator Classic, click on Help, then About and tell us what it says there.

I am not aware there is a Easy cd/dvd burning creative 9. Roxio has a Easy CD & DVD Burning (in a red box), which is a re-worked Version 6, and it has a Easy Media Creator 9.

Also what Operationg System do you have Windows 98/2k/XP?.

As ogdens pointed out there is a Easy CD & DVD Burning that comes in a Red Box.

There are actually 2 distinct versions of that. One is V6 whereas the other is based on V9. The V9 will have a sticker on the box that says "Vista Compatible".

But the only sure way to tell is to open Classic or MyDVD and click on Help – About. What version does it report?
