Pan And Scan Advanced Help

Question

EMC8 -- MyDvd: I want to use the Pan and Scan feature to show two different parts of a picture for 2 seconds each. I'd like to start with the full picture for two seconds, zoom for two seconds to one part of the pic, stay there for two seconds, pan to the second area over two seconds, and then stay there for two more seconds (end of slide). I figure I need a start point, and then a key point every two seconds until the end point. At the start and the first key point, I will show the full frame. Then at the second key point I want to have the first zoomed area marked. At the next key point I want the EXACT same zoomed are marked, so that for seconds five and six of the slide there is no apparent movement. I can't figure out how to do that, except by trial and error, which I have not been physically able to accomplish. It seems like in EMC8 you have to size each key point independently of the previous point, which makes it nigh on impossible to get them exactly the same. In Videowave 7 you could specify how long to pause at a zoomed-on shot before panning to the next area. Am I missing something in this version?

You are not missing anything. This was a function that was changed in V8 (for the worst). I can get you close but not perfect. Create your first key point at perhaps 2 second. Create a second key point at perhaps 6 seconds with the zoom in to the location. Now create your third key point a fraction of a second later (so they are essentially on top of each other) than the second one. This will create a key point with very close to the second key point visual (so little movement). Play with it. Now select the second key point and using the wheel, move it to the 4 second location. Repeat for the other location on your picture. This will not be perfect and the picture will drift just a bit but it may be good enough for what you are doing.

The pan and zoom editor always seems to want to move back to the full screen- Roxio does need to fix this.

BTW, if you do advanced edit in MyDVD, you are in VideoWave. That is where I played around with it.
