MyDVD 6: "This is not a valid MPEG file".

Question

I'm working on a project that involves compiling clips from various DVD's that came from DVD-recording camcorders. As I'm importing the .VOB files off the discs, I've had no problems except with one disc that repeatedly gives me a "This is not a valid MPEG file" error (-20400). Any idea what could be causing that? I'm hoping that there's a way I can still use the file in MyDVD, as I've already compiled seven discs in the same set and I'd hate to have to use a different program for the eighth.

Thanks for any help.

MyDVD doesn't support importing the raw VOB files. It can some times work but you were bound to run into a disc that wouldn't work I'm afraid.

You'll have to use the software that came with the camera to rip the video off of those discs.

Sounds to me like there is some small error on the disk from which you are importing. Sometimes flukes happen. If you did everything the same for the other seven discs, but the eight won't import correctly, try using a converter program for the .vob files. Super c (erightsoft.com, I think) will convert just about anything to just about anything. The only thing it doesn't do is dvr-ms files from MCE or Tivo, but there are ways around that too. Try converting to an mpeg1 or mpeg2, since that's what Sonic seems to like best. I find that converting from one format to another does solve some importing issues.
