In addition to the about 238 transitions in EMC 9, there are some transitions that can be reversed and some where you can change the color.
If you are able to use the 3D transitions, select one like "Spray from Top". When run as is, it looks like the name. If run in reverse, it gives a drying effect. This is one transition where you can also change the colors.
Add the transition and select it. Select "Show Settings" from the side menu. You should get a window that opens that shows you the options. For better results, increase the duration of the transition.
As I said, not all transitions give to the reverse and color options but those that do give you some interesting effects.
