Text Edits Crash Videowave

he209kc

Question

I have a VAIO GRT250P running XP Pro, Pentium 4, 2.66 GHz, GeForce4 420 Go video card with 32 Mb. Started out with the download version but after several chats with tech support they agreed to send the installation and content disks. Build 805B30B ENU, the options are set to software rendering. So the problem is in trying to add text to a video item to run as scrolling credits. With the download version installed, the pasted text was entered right to left, it looked like you were viewing from the back of the screen. Now the text file, only 2k, goes in but as I add line feeds to break the lines and add spacing the editor gets to a fixed point and hangs the program. Tech support first said that it was the video driver. Updates on mobile drivers are up to Sony and I have the most recent. I put the software on a newer Gateway and the same thing happens. Next they suggested re-installing without Cineplayer as they have traced some conflicts to this module. At present I have only VideoWave installed, without Cineplayer and the problem still exists. I have seen some posts suggesting that V7 had a text limit but tech support never mentioned this for V8. I tried to break the text into blocks. The help file indicates you should be able to add multiple text tracks to an item however I get an error message "No more than 1 text effect track(s) may be added." Any thoughtss?

Tips for entering audio properties and CD Text

Track titles can be edited directly in the project window by clicking once on a track title and pressing F2 on your keyboard. Type the new track title and press the Enter key.

You can enter audio properties for several tracks at once. Select more than one track in the project window and click on the CD Properties button . Any changes you make in the Edit CD Properties window will affect all of the selected tracks.

If the Edit CD Properties window is opened when more than one track is selected, some settings may display the phrase Multiple Values. This means at least two of the selected tracks have different values for the same setting. For example, the pre-gap for one track might be set at 2 seconds, and the pre-gap for another track might be set at 0. Click on a Multiple Values entry only if you wish to enter a new setting for all the selected tracks.

With that 32MB video card, I don't think that any new drivers are going get where you want to be. A new video card, if possible, is in order.

Thanks for the quick response. I can accept that as a possibility, although it seems like a very short cycle time for the age of the laptop. Do you have any thoughts on why V8 will not allow an additional text track as the help file describes?

Videowave 8 has two text tracks, one internal and one external. Adding additional text tracks beyond those two is not a feature in this version, hence the note at the top of each Help screen that reads, "Depending on the software version you are running, some of the features described below may not be available."
