Label selection

Have you tried setting it in File menu, Page setup? Select commercial, then NEATO CD label 2 up, click OK. Close Label creator. Next time you open, file menu, print, that setting should be selected. It should then stay on that selection on future occasions unless you change it in Page setup.

As an experiment, I used page setup to change to what you want, closed Label creator, reopened label creator, file menu, print, and it showed the new selection. Went back to page setup, set what I normally use (standard paper, A4), clicked OK. Closed Label creator, reopened, File, print showed my settings again.

I'm sorry it's not working for you. As I can't reproduce the problem, it is difficult for me to suggest a fix, except possibly one that involves editing the registry.

The paper selection is at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Roxio\Label Creator\9.0\Printing\Paper

I experimented and the value in that key that should show 'NEATO CD labels - 2 UP' when that is selected in page setup to print the disc label is PaperDisc.

So if you want to try to edit the data for that value in the registry it might stick.

In case you are not familiar with editing the registry, let me know and I'll give detailed instruction.

PS Just one more afterthought. Do you have any security software that might be preventing label creator from changing the data in the registry when you change the paper type? I'm thinking of things like process guard, etc.

I went to file menu/ page setup and selected Neato Cd labels 2up, clicked on ok, then closed out Label creator. When I opened up label creator and went back to page setup it was on the HP CDX8040E again!!

It just doesn't seem to stick. I am not sure how to get it to accept my type of label.

I did as you suggested. I went into Regedit and it was the HP selection under paper. I changed it to the Neato label then opened Label Creator which came up with APLI Ref.2899 Discs (A4). I am not sure if this is a reference to the Neato label or not. I changed it to Neato again, then went back into the Regedit and it had switched it back to the HP label.

Should I stay with the APLI Ref.2899 ? I didn't try and print the label using this. If this doesn't work, then I wouldn't be able to use the label creator.

I can reproduce your problem. It happens like you say, except with one twist. In Page Setup, I set it for the Neato 2-up labels, click ok, then went to print, and had to set it to Neato 2-up labels there, too.

As a test, I just printed out the label shown on the screen, without adding anything. It printed the label that was shown (top one) just fine.

I then closed out of Label Creator, opened it up again, and checked the Page Setup. It was still listed as Neato, but when I went to Print, it was the HP CDX8040E, like yours. I closed out again, opened Label Creator again, and the Page Setup was now the HP CDX8040E as was the Print.

In short, you are not the only one that this happens to. The settings do not hold, the way you expect them to, even if you print a label after making your new settings.

I don't know, but looking at the preview in Print, the APLI Ref. 2899 seems to be a slightly different layout to NEATO 2UP (you can see the preview image change slightly if you change the selection). You might be able to get it to print exactly in the right place on the page by, in print, click preferences; check fine tuning box and adjust vertical and horizontal offsets. Trial and error, I'm afraid.

Did you type in the NEATO reference in the registry exactly as it appears in the page setup list (including caps, spaces etc.)? I'm in UK where standard size is A4, and the reference is

NEATO CD Labels - 2 Up (A4)

If in US, you probably don't have the (A4) at the end.

Further idea: Same registry key, DiscPageFile value: what page file is that pointing to? If it is not pointing to Neato Discs.jwp (or Neato Discs (A4).jwp if you use A4 sized sheets), try changing it to that. The page files are in C:\Program Files\Roxio\Label Creator 9\Page Files. You could also check that you have the NEATO discs.jwp file there.

The last resort would be to try a repair install from add/remove, click change, then repair. But that is a hassle and you'll need to reactivate everything (with no guarantee it would solve the problem)

Well, this is interesting. I tried as you suggested and then hit print and it just locks up Label Creator. I tried to print repeatedly with the same results. This program sure can be frustrating. I may have to try a repair load to see if it will work.
