Help with MyDVD 6 - file sizing

akte

Question

I'm trying to burn a disc with 3 files of 350mb each onto DVD, but it says the files are too large. I can only fit 1 file on to a 4.3gb disc? Can anyone help me out with a reason why and how to fix it? Thanks in advance :)

The size of the files are not important, it's their length in time that matter when making a video dvd. What kind of files are they, and how long, in time, is each one?

Thanks Larry. They are .avi files, 42mins in length each.

Thought that might be the case. They are probably Divx or Xvid type avi files, meaning they are highly compressed video. To work on a DVD for your player, they have to be converted to mpeg2 standards, which is not as compressed.

Basically, you can normally fit about 1 hor on a DVD at high quality. You could try lowering the settings and you may be able to get 2 of those on a DVD.

Oh! Ok, thanks for your help :) I'll see about converting them to mpeg2 standards then :) And yeah, they are Divx.
