You can type in "Unable to load skin" in the search box, above right. You should get lots of hits. Here is one that may help.

1. Do a clean install if you have not tried that yet.

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000086CR

2. Make sure that you have the latest versions of Windows Media Player, DirectX.

3. After these updates have been confirmed, you may need to re-register some of your XML .dll files which are listed below:

MSXML3.DLL

MSDXMLC.DLL

MSXML.DLL

MSXML2.DLL

MSXML2R.DLL

MSXML3R.DLL

MSXMLR.DLL

a. Click on "Start," and select "Run."

b. Type "regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL" (Be sure to include a space between "regsvr32" and the .dll file name.) and click "OK."

c. Then try to start up MyDVD/VideoWave to see if it will run. If it does not, then move on to the next .DLL

I'm having the same "Unable to load skin" problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice. I tried alexatrox's suggestion about registering the dll files.

The following files registered with no problem:

MSXML.DLL

MSXML2.DLL

MSXML3.DLL

But the following files generated the message below:

MSDXMLC.DLL

MSXML2R.DLL

MSXML3R.DLL

MSXMLR.DLL

The message: "[filename] was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. [filename] does not appear to be a .DLL or .OCX file."

Also, I still get "unable to load skin."

What do I try next?

I have seen this problem. It happen to me as a result of a roll back to an earlier system restore point. Not all software will survive a roll back and then the registry is left very dirty by some applications. Regcleaner works well if you know what has to be cleaned from the registry. I had to do a complete application clean and then a complete install.
