roxio my dvd 9 studio premier question about dvd capture

Krystyna

Question

Have been using MyDVD Studio DeLuxe 6.2 to capture from my Cannon DC20 DVD camcorder. It works perfectly but I am looking at purchasing My DVD studio premier as it looks as though it is a more sophisticated editing programme. I wondered if anyone had used it and knows if it capture from dvd camcorders via USB the same way as my current 6.2 programme does. And is it compatible to my Cannon DVD camcorder. Many thanks. The forum you posted in is for suggestions on themes, templates, etc. for future versions of the programs. The Read Me First was posted directly above your post.

EMC 9 has problems with 'some' USB devices. For miniDVDs, it is much easier to finalize the disc in the camcorder and then just insert the disc into the computer's drive. You should be able to 'capture' from the disc that way.

No, you cannot use a USB capture from a camcorder. That old program can and you may be able to capture to your computer with that and then do the final editing in the new software. The new programs can only capture video from a Firewire port.

That camera captures the mpg2 video to a small DVD so you should be able to just finalize the disc (if needed) and put it in your DVD reader (if that will support the small disc). You can just copy that mpg2 file to your computer and use it in VideoWave (or My DVD)

If you are going to upgrade, spend the extra $ to get Easy Media Creator. It has everything that MYDVD Studio has and more.

Thank you - this information is very helpful and very clear. I will look at the various ways of capturing that have been suggested and will also look at easy media creator. Many thanks - and apologies for posting in the wrong place. Krystyna
