MPEG-2 Activation Question

Paulfonzo

Question

Hi All,

I've browsed the board and see a variety of activation issues, but have not found mine, so maybe there's a simple solution?

When I am asked to activate the MPEG-2 codec in Videowave 9, my computer connects to the Roxio server, and I get a screen that doesn't render completely. It tells me to click a NEXT button, but the window doesn't resize and there is no NEXT button.

I tried different video resolution settings to no avail. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Paul H.

P.S. I don't see an attachment function, but here's a link to a screen capture:

Thanks Nerus, that was a good solution, and I got the activation to work. Unfortunately, now when I click on the DVDExpress button or use the full DVDburn, my system freezes, locks up.

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried using the manual method of activating the mpeg-2 codecs ?

Thanks for the reply Frank. Unfortunately, I ran into the same problem, bad window resizing issue. Yet Nerus' solution was perfect, I forgot about simple Windows keystrokes. They solved that problem, but unfortunately now it seems that VideoWave 9 doesn't like my DVD burner, as it freezes up completely when I try to burn. Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

It all depends on a lot of variables when you start to render a video file - your graphics card, the CPU, the physical RAM for starters

You also need the latest drivers for the graphics and also the latest RirectX (9.0c) from Microsoft

If the graphics are onboard (using shared memory) they probably won't work even in software render (they certainly won't in hardware)

What you could try is to 'burn' to an image file on the hard drive first - then open that with Disc Copier to write it to the DVD (split the process in two as it were)

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a viable workaround, but I can't find any "burn to image file" commands in VideoWave 9. Is there another app I can import the WV9 file into? Etc.?

Thanks.

Suggestions may also depend on what is meant by "freezing and locking up". Are there error messages? Does the progress sit at 0%? A bit more detail on what the statement means will help.

Thanks Larry. My systems simply freezes, no error messages, nadda, zip. I have to Ctl+Alt+delete to shut down the app and system, which NEVER completely shuts itself off, meaning even the shutdown is affected by the "freeze."

I have an HP Pavillion desktop a732n (3.4 GHz) with 2 gigs RAM, a GE FORCE LE graphics card with 256K RAM.

Thanks.
