Music Or Recorded Audio Causes It To Not Play

jusdogs

Question

I have created a slide show and try to put audio in and it causes it to not play at all. Sometimes it even closes the whole program without saving. I have made numerous slide shows and have not had this problem at all. I even chose the same music and it still does the same. I have tried to record audio, (This I never tried before) and it seems to record OK, then it transfers it to the slide show, but won't play. It will then just shut down.

Recently I loaded real player and that seems to be the default when it comes to playing audio vs windows media player, don't know if that has any impact or not? I can uninstall it if I need to, don't really like it anyways?

thanks for any help?

Uninstall Real Player, and see if all clears up. I dumped Real Player 7 years ago, never to be installed on my computer again. I hated the way it controlled everything, "music". It sounds like it hasn't changed.

I did that and it did not help. It allows me to put the audio track in there, but when I try to edit it, it states " no native audio or audio effect for the selection". and then it causes the whole slide show not to play at all. The files are wma for songs and wva for recorded.

Convert all to .wav or .mp3 format, and see if that helps.

I tried to use files that were wav, including recorded audio tracks. I tried to record audio through the capture, that worked, and it went into the slide show, and it started to play without sound. It won't let me edit any of the audio files. It always says "no native audio or audio effect for the selection". I have always been able to do this before. If I try to sample the files that I have recorded it shuts the program off. I can preview the CD music from the media collection area, and even add it to the slide show, it plays but there is no sound. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and that has not helped.

I need help desperately. I have DVD's that I need to finish.

thanks for any help that can be given

We need to back up, here. If you are not using VideoWave to make your slide show, you are using the wrong program. What program are you using?

I am using video wave

I have updated my computer, audio system, uninstalled roxio and reinstalled twice and the audio portion is still not working. I tried to use Microsoft Movie Maker with the same audio and video portion and it works there, so the problem must be in the ROxio program..

I think that I am going to update to version 8, do you think that will solve the problem and is there and negatives to version 8. I am on a deadline and don't have a lot of time for a learning curve.

thanks

You could update to version 8, but I don't know if it will cure your problem. I don't understand why the audio won't work unless the files just aren't compatible with EMC 7.

Somehow after installing and uninstalling EMC 8 2 x's and EMC 7 3 times before that. I reinstalled EMC and it works?! However, I did the basic installation and it is missing some of the text, overlays, and transitions. I am sort of afraid to do anything else, but I really want those back on the program. Any suggestions????

but the audio does work and it lets me edit it?

thanks

You might just as well try installing the Content Disk. If you need help on how to do that "after the fact", post back here.

I am having the exact same problem that you had. I've updated Windows to SP2, updated my audio and video drivers, and reinstalled EMC 7.5 many times. I'm ready to buy a new computer. Since you updated to V8, is the audio still working? I'm thinking about trying that.

Don't blame your computer jwstanek. It looks as if you've done everything right by it, and it's the one program that's a problem.

I know you've tried deleting all related files before, but did you also try a good registry cleaning program to get rid of leftover junk? Try AMust (you can find in on the Windows Marketplace download hub). It costs money but is free and fully funtional to use for 30 days.

Next, do you use Norton Antivirus 2006? I have heard from a few of my friends that they (like myself) have had some odd computer glitches lately. We've all traced it back to NAV2006 being a little buggy. (Hope it's keeping the viruses out at least).

Try this...(if you are using it, or any other one for that matter, which everyone should be)...

Disconnect from the net, run a system scan so you can get a warm blanket feeling you're clean from junk, then turn off your antivirus software. I truly hope it works for you cause I went nuts thinking it would truly bite to have to reinstall XP just cause Videowave is wonky...

If you don't use NAV 2006...please ignore. But..if anyone else out there uses it...take note, some people out there have experienced issues...you might too.

I'm using Norton SystemWorks 2005. It includes the antivirus and has a registry cleaning tool (WinDoctor) which I did run to eliminate all of the references to EMC and other junk before I reinstalled EMC.
