Cropping Video - PLEASE HELP

Toonman

Question

Is there any way that I can crop video. Such as cropping a video so that all you can see is feet or a small thin line of it. I do understand that this has to be an overlay but I just want to crop the video, not make it smaller.

Please HELP!!!

Yes, use the overlay with a PNG file with transparent background or if your editor doesn't support that (PhotoSuite 9 does), then you can use chroma key to make part of an image 'see through'. Just depends on what you are trying to do. Need more information.

Well the look I am going for is just cropping video. I need to make the video smaller. I tried inserting an overlay as just a black box and adjusting where I want the video being cropped but it just seems pointless.

I just need to cut the clip in half so you can only see the bottom portion of it.

Did you try what I sent you in rely to your pm-- video on the main track and an image on the overlay? Do you need more of an explanation of the longer post I relied with?

Quote: Why don't you try putting the video on the main track and then overlay the still image over it. You can place the image where you want it to block the video. Remember to account for the TV safe zone. I think that will give you the effect you are looking for as long as the video you want to see is near the bottom of the video screen.

If it is not, you may want to try playing around with multiple overlay tracks where you see part of the still image, the thin line of video and then the rest of the image as the second overlay track. You would have to crop the image into two different images, the top section and then the bottom section. Not difficult but you will have to play with it a bit."

Also remember if you have EMC 9, the forum where you posted, you have up to 5 external overlay tracks and an equal number of internal overlay tracks. What product do you have?

Do you mean AND have that remaining portion fill the screen? Why not just use teh Zoom feature?
The way I understood it was sort of having the bottom section of a video as a moving banner across the bottom of the screen while the images showed above it. Perhaps I read it wrong (twice?)

Nothing it will just be black.

I think i figured it out. I just put an overlay on the internal track of the video.

I still want to know if theres a crop feature though.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Another thing. Is there a way for me to to take the native audio from a video and just keep the audio and remove the rest of the clip?

No, there is no 'crop' feature. I've used and own several video editors and I haven't seen that type of feature in any of them.

Using an overlay should do what you want then. There are several options as pointed out in previous posts. PNG with transparency would be the most simple solution.

Sure. Right click on the video clip in Media Manager, and select Extract audio. Once you save it, use it however you like.
