bobwhite
In the pinned topic, Dell Patch For 5.3.x.xx Basic To V 5.3.5.17, lynn identified the patch download from Dell, to update Roxio Easy CD creator 5.3.x.xx basic to v 5.3.5.17. I was going to update my creator 5, but the patch on dell website actually says it is to update 5.3.4x to 5.3.5.17, A00. I have dell's ecdc basic v. 5.3.2.34. Seems to work satisfactorily, but I haven't used it a lot and now need it for a lot of work. I didn't update because I didn't have 5.3.4. 1. Should I update it using the dell patch in question, or 2. Should I leave well enough alone. I usually like to have updated software. 3. On the roxio site, update your software for ecdc 5.x (http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/ecdc/software_updates.html ) is a link to update 5.x.x basic to 5.3.5. File is ecdc_v5.3.5.10_basic_enu.exe. Should I a. just use this file, or b. perhaps use the roxio website patch to get to 5.3.5.10 and then load the dell update to get to 5.3.5.17 ? Doesn't seem to make sense if dell patch is for a 5.3.4 version that it would make a 5.3.5.10 version into a 5.3.5.17. But I not very experienced. I have: win XP, up to date NEC ND-1100A 4X DVD+R / 2.4X DVD+RW If more than one option works, please let me know. Same if one of them is definitely a no-go. Thanks. You don't want to use the patch on the Roxio site because the one you listed is for the retail Platinum version. The one you listed for the Dell site isn't your version and you don't know what might happen if you tried to update your version. So........if it ain't broke..... don't attempt to fix it. jeanrosenfeld
Lynn drew my attention to this thread. My advice (based on what worked for me when I had Esay media creator 5 basic) is: download an install the update for the BASIC version from Roxio, at the bottom of this page: http://www.roxio.co.uk/eng/support/ecdc/so...re_updates.html Be sure to use the BASIC version update. Then download and install the Dell update from http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...p;fileid=113880 Do not reboot between installing the updates, but do so after you have installedc both.
