Good question, probably just because it's like copy and paste. They used the same form in other apps so why change the form.

I had replied to someone else in a different thread that you could no longer leave an audio disc open. Why,no idea but you can't.

I agree, since the dialogue box uses the same form and ActiveX objects, it is easy to make one object inactive. But programatically-wise, making it invisible would probably take the same steps as making it inactive (just me talking as a VB programmer).

Could someone please tell me how can I burn a music CD but NOT finalize the disc, so that later I'm able to add more tracks to the disc. Thanks in advance for your response.

I'm not positive but I believe this can only be done in Music Disc Creator and not Audio CD using the Home menu. In Music Disc Creator, while in the Burn menu, click on the + sign and uncheck Read Only. Then you can add more songs later.

Thanks for your reply. I tried that but the "Read Only" is not highlighted and I cannot check or uncheck it. How can un-highlight it?

I don't think you can actually do this with audio CDs, as CD Players won't support this. The music CD would not be playable in most CD Players while it was still "open", and even when it was closed, I don't think it would be compatible with most CD Players.

As it is, I think Music Disc Creator prevents you from leaving the CD open for this very reason. You can create a data cd that is left open, and will allow you to write more to it later, but once again, this won't be compatible with CD Players.

You can't leave an Audio CD open in EMC 9. (I don't recall if you could in EMC 8 or not.) This is something relatively new, anyway. So, to make an Audio CD now, you must have all the music you want to put on it available to start with, and write the entire disc in one shot. In fact, there's no option for Track-At-Once vs. Disc-At-Once anymore, it always write Audio CDs in DAO mode now, as far as I've been able to figure out.

Not an option anymore.

I just tried it for both an mp3 and audio cd and you're correct! I have never needed to use this feature and assumed nothing had changed from earlier versions. Thanks for correcting me.

I have to ask then, why is the read only box even there?

Umm.... somebody made the box "inactive" but should've just made it "invisible"? Is this a trick question?
