how do I add "anamorphic flags" to my DVD

sean90291

Question

If I have a 4:3 movie file that has been vertically stretched, and I bring it into SonicDVD, is there a way that I can insert code into the burn so that the stretched DVD plays normally (with black letterbox bars) on a 4:3 TV, and then gets stretched out to full 16:9 on a widescreen display (no black letterbox bars).

I know other programs can do this. I'm hoping Sonic DVD can do this when it encodes the file for DVD burning.

DVDit does create true anamorphic for standard definition DVDs. I have no idea what a "4:3 movie file that has been vertically stretched" is. Do you have a 16:9 MPEG file that is NOT playing back correctly? The 16:9 'flag' is embedded in the MPEG file. You need a MPEG utility that can correct this.

Alternative method would be to create the final video_ts folder and then edit the IFO file.

I have no idea if DVDit can 'force' an MPEG to 16:9 or not.

to force 16:9 you go into the "movie attributes" window and set the movie as 16:9. that will cause a transcode. you may also be able to use Restream to change a m2v file which is flagged as 4:3 to 16:9 and then import that restreamed file...that would avoid transcoding if the initial file is legal.
