VW 7.5 Slideshow crashes in DVD builder

soccrfn

Question

I am building a slide show in VW 7.5. (It includes music, text and a few effects)

After hundreds of images, VW slows down tremendously, which I suppose is normal.

As I attempt to burn to a dvd, after 30 seconds or so, the DVD Builder completey just disappears.

I tried with a smaller portion of the slideshow with about 50 images, and it burns fine.

1) Any suggestions how to get the DVD Maker not to crash.

2) Just a thought, is there a way to split up the slide show in VW and then build it on DVD builder, sort of like chapters but have it run smoothly on one button click, without having to click on each chapter button to continue to the next section?

3) Finally, any suggestins to keep VW 7.5 from slowing down when adding lots of images. (currently each one at 800x 600px). If lower, I don;lt think the quality will be veryu good when shown on a tv. Is there a recommended resolution for slide show images?

Thanks

1. Do you have Internet Explorer 7 or Windows Media Player 11 installed? Both of those have been known to 'break' DVD Builder.

2. Yes, but I'm not quite certain what you're attempting to accomplish.

You can do a File\ Save as... and make as many copies of the VideoWave production as you want. Then delete the images that you don't want in the first, second, etc. production.

Then you can do a File\ Output production to.... and make several different 'movies' which you can then put on a DVD Builder menu.

You can do an Add to title to make one large DVD Builder production, or add them as separate movies.

In the Burn menu, there is an option to 'Play next title'. That will allow you to play one movie after the next.

For no chapter menus, just deselect the option to Display Chapter menus. That's in the menu where you mark the chapters. You can still use the DVD players remote control to advance through chapters, but it will play continuously if you want.

3. Make several smaller VideoWave productions, then do the File\ Output production.... as in #2.

Yes, #3. I think I will try that. I think your suggestion will probably make that work. I was worried moreso about how it will flow, such as with transition between "sections" but I will try tonight. Any experience with that?

Thank you

Thank you

This is digital video that you're outputting. When you put it all together in DVD Builder, transitions should be smooth.

The several small productions should help with the slow rendering problem. I'd Output a Video File for DVD Authoring Best.

The program won't have to rerender the movies so assembling them should be quicker

Also, remember to save your high quality photos on a separate data DVD, hard drive, and/or online storage. The quality on the DVD will not be as good as the original photos.

Let us know if you need additional help with the DVD Builder closing problem.

------ and as to your other post about transitions..... almost any of them will work smoothly. If I'm changing between subjects, I frequently insert a black color panel between the pictures( or movies). Then I do a fast disolve to and from the black color panel.

Other than that, transitions usually depend on the type of pictures you're using. When using transitions, less variety is usually best unless you want to make your audience dizzy. ---------

How in the wrold did you import those photos. I cannot even get DVD builder to start. Iwould like to click on each indivual slide and change the transition. Do you know how to do this.

Thanks Mary B

He's making the slideshow in VideoWave. Once you make it in VideoWave, you can take it into DVD Builder.

Check to see if Microsoft automatically installed Internet Explorer 7 on your computer. If it is, uninstall IE 7 in Windows Add Remove programs. When you restart your computer, Internet Explorer 6 should be automatically installed and DVD Builder should work.
