Did this problem just start happening ?. Also is everything ok when you use the other programs in ECDC 5 (can you make a data cd/copy a CD) ?. lynn98109
Also, the Lite-On is 48x24x48 - an old drive. It is possible it is getting ready for its trip to that great Recycling Bin in the sky - especially if it's been getting a lot of use. Have there been any other problems? And, you say it DOES work - does that mean "it can play a CD" (which takes a lot less laser power than burning) or that it does work with some other software? Brendon
when i try to burn a music cd i am getting this message: " there are no supported cd-recorders available" my cd recorder works perfectly. why am i getting this message? thanks No need to look for complicated answers, your recorder is not recognized by Easy CD Creator 5.1.0.104 Your drive was first supported by version 5.1h - it needs a drive update patch, or an update to 5.3 to be recognized and then it will be a supported recorder. The old 5.1 driveup patches are no longer supplied, so if you want to use that recorder with ECDC 5 you will need to go to the Roxio site, Updates page, and get the updater to version 5.3.5.10. Get the version (Platinum or Basic) which matches your Easy CD Creator. I think you'll have Platinum, since Basic was 5.1.1.104, however you can check by running Creator and going to the Help button > About ECDC and looking at the version number again. You won't need a drive updater patch, since 5.3.5.10 covers your drive nicely. Please call back if you have any further problems. lynn98109
Did you add the updates mentioned by Brendon? The updates are here: http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/ecdc/software_updates.html Read this before adding the updates (pinned to the top of this Forum) first for the instructions to try to get it to work with WinXP SP2 (and there are no guarantees, since officially ECDC 5 is NOT supported with the system changes caused by adding SP2 to WinXP): http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=125 (I suspect you will need to uninstall, roxizap, and then reinstall.) Brendon
puggyb, Please don't insert your message into text you've quoted - it makes things confusing. Please write below the text you quote. You wouldn't have drive recognition problems with version 9, but there is an update available for free to fix your problem, if you can get it down. May I suggest you have another attempt at getting the 5.3.5.10 updater down, and if that is unsuccessful come back and tell us what happens. I have another alternative up my sleeve, but I'd much prefer you to fix this the proper and reliable way. Regards, Brendon
ogdens
There maybe another way of getting the update but this is what works for me: Once you get the Product-Download-Failure page, click again on the Support link, then Software Updates>select ECDC 5> then select the update for ECDC 5 Platinum 5.x.x. to 5.3.5 then download
