Can it work?

Question

Hi, I've been on the forum before but they must have done it all over again. I've had V7.5 since it came out but I've only used the CD burner, never anything where I have to click on the Rox icon.

So, what I'm wanting to do is to take old VHS tapes that have been sitting for years and I want to rip them to the hard drive then take out commercials and such hoo ha and then record it to DVD on a Plextor burner that I've got my eyes on but have not yet ordered.

Can this version of the software do that, I know, I need a hardware tranfer device, still don't know about that, they all look much alike but Plextor has a new one out that looks like it would really simplify things. It's a PX-AV200U. I don't know if the software it comes with (Presto! Video works V6) is worth a handfull of beans or if it I can do it with what's in EMC or if I'd be better off buying the Pinnacle suite that comes with a converter??? Feel free to post to me directly but I know it would help others more if you just responded here.

TIA, Brian

Yes, you can do what you want with 7.5. As far as the capture device, many times, it's better to use the software to capture your video to your computer than to use EMC to do it. After it's on your hard drive, you can use Videowave to edit and do whatever magic you like. I personally find it better to capture to an AVI than mpeg and do so in smaller files instead of 1 large file. This makes it easier to work with, save your work and may also help reduce or eliminate audio sync problems.
